Walk cycle
Finally something I have a bit experience with. Practiced this last year when I was preparing my portfolio for my MA application. But back then all I did was just simply copying the keys from The Animator’s Survival Kit without actually understanding it. The placement of arms and feet is really important. Now I can try to apply different walking styles depending on the character’s personality.
3D
First time using Maya, a whole different experience. Finished a bouncing animation of Bonky at the end of the class. I didn’t like how the navigating system works at first which you have to press hole the shift key all the time, Blender seemed more intunitive to me in which you can control the whole viewport by just using the mouse. A few more minute into it I started to like it, it’s actually a brilliant design. No more accidentally messing up my camera angles.
Blender project update

More research on Notes of a Crocodile. Done a rough script breakdown of the book( in the language of the book was written so no need to post it here) Selected a few interesting scenes to do. Suddenly realised I should practice some character modelling since I’m studying character animation, then realised that I didn’t know how to model characters’ clothes and ended up fiddling with Blender’s cloth sim all night. It was such a pain then I finally found out no one uses Blender’s inbuilt cloth sim for charater modeling, Marvellous Designer is now the industry standard. So I downloaded the free trial the next day and made a sweatshirt and a skirt.
